Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) — Implants & Coils

Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) is among the most effective forms of contraception available. Once fitted, it protects against pregnancy for several years without you having to remember a daily pill, and it’s easily reversible whenever you decide you want to stop or try for a baby.

At City Road Medical Centre, our trained GPs and nurses offer the fitting and removal of contraceptive implants and coils.

Chlamydia Testing for Under 25s

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK, and it’s especially common in people under 25. Because it often has no symptoms, many people don’t know they have it, but if left untreated it can cause serious health problems, including infertility.

At City Road Medical Centre, we offer free, confidential chlamydia testing for anyone under 25 as part of the Umbrella Sexual Health Service.

What we offer:

  • A quick, simple and painless test — a urine sample or a self-taken swab
  • Free and completely confidential
  • Testing whether or not you have symptoms
  • Free treatment if your result is positive – usually a simple course of antibiotics

Who it’s for: Anyone under 25 who is, or has been, sexually active. We recommend a test every year, or when you change sexual partner.

How to access the service: Collect the testing kit from reception, take the sample at home and post the sample back using the prepaid envelope.
